Dental Implant FAQ in Sammamish, WA

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are today’s most natural and durable teeth replacement method. Providing support and stability, a titanium screw that acts as the root of a new tooth is placed in your jaw and, over time, fuses with the bone, providing a permanent anchor for a new crown.

What are the advantages of dental implants?

Dental implants allow you to eat, smile, and speak without restraint or worry of embarrassing slippage that can occur with dentures and bridges. These innovative teeth replacements:

  • Are fixed and permanent.
  • Feel natural and don’t slip.
  • Are stand-alone units that don’t require treatment of nearby teeth.
  • Are easy to care for and clean.
  • Can last a lifetime

What are the steps involved in having a dental implant placed?

The first step is a consultation in which we assess your oral health and take 3D X-rays of your jaw.

Next, we determine a treatment plan (including your choice of anesthesia) that would meet the goals for your mouth.

Once the implant has been placed, we schedule follow-up appointments.

When the implant area has healed, we expose the implant, if need be, and attach the final crown.

Do dental implants hurt?

We perform implant surgery under your choice of anesthesia, and we closely monitor you throughout the procedure. We also numb the surgical site. You will be asleep and have no memory of the surgery. It’s not until later in the day that you may experience some discomfort. We’ll prepare you ahead of time with instructions on how to manage any pain at home.

How experienced are you with dental implants?

Christopher Bao Brown, DDS is one of the only diplomates of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and members of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in the Sammamish WA area. He has placed hundreds of dental implants and regularly treats patients who require complex dental implant reconstruction. He keeps current in the most recent advances in dental implant surgery by participating in rigorous specialty programs and continuing education.

How much do dental implants cost?

When you come in for a consultation, we’ll be able to give you an accurate estimate of the cost of your dental implants. The final amount varies patient to patient and depends on a variety of factors. Thankfully, more and more insurance companies are seeing the value of implants and paying for at least some portion of the overall cost. Our competent and experienced staff are experts at helping patients navigate insurance policies and communicating with insurance companies. Before we begin treatment, we make sure you are aware of all costs you’ll be responsible for upfront.
